A raft of local jobs have been created in Mapperley after Landa Associates brokered a deal to bring an exciting new restaurant and bar to the Nottingham suburb.
Acting on behalf of the landlord, Hillcrest Properties Nottingham Ltd, Landa Associates has let the former Lloyds Bank building at 31 Plains Road to Alora, a new tapas venture launched by successful hospitality entrepreneur Geoff Pemberton, whose previous businesses include the popular Copper bar chain.
Landa Associates director Sunny Landa, who was appointed letting and managing agent for the landmark building in February last year, struck a deal with Alora Restaurant Ltd which sees the business occupy the premises for a 15-year term at a record-breaking rent.
This latest addition to Mapperley’s lively food and drink scene offers high-end tapas and a sophisticated drinks menu overseen by Kieran Haugh, former head chef at city centre fine dining establishment World Service, and Callum Wightman of local bar and eatery the Old Flower Shop.
It is now open and has been a huge hit with the local community.
The new venue occupies 4,000 sq. ft of space on the ground floor of the building, and is part of a larger mixed-use scheme by Hillcrest Properties Nottingham Ltd that received planning permission from Gedling Borough Council in early 2023.
The final development has a projected GDV of £2.25m and will include offices, apartments and a 1,000 sq. ft retail unit.
Phase II of the building work to transform the former bank building has now begun.
Sunny Landa, director at Landa Associates, said: “We’re thrilled to have completed this letting to Alora. Geoff is very well regarded in local hospitality circles and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to attract a tenant of his calibre. The restaurant has very quickly become a resounding success which I am not at all surprised about given the track record of everyone involved, the high-end fit-out and the prestigious nature of the location.
“We received a high level of interest in 31 Plains Road. It’s exciting to see our client’s vision flourish and take shape and great to see a vacant building in such a prominent location being given a new lease of life.”
Geoff Pemberton, director at Alora Restaurant Ltd, said: “We’re delighted to have secured such a prestigious location for our new venture. Hats off to Sunny – he was a pleasure to deal with and made the negotiating process easy. Huge thanks to Landa Associates and to Hillcrest Properties for presenting us with this fantastic opportunity.”
